Williams Island hosts all-star tennis panel for Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce

Game, Set, Match!  The Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce  Chairman’s Roundtable breakfast meeting hosted by Williams Island featured a panel of tennis luminaries all sharing their tennis career histories, highlights, and moments of tournament glory which enthralled the crowd at The Island Club.

AMC Chair Gary Pyott of FirstService Residential joined by Williams Island COO/Steven Matlaga, CCM, welcomed  everyone to  The Island Club at Williams Island.

Featured tennis panelists included: Guillermo Canas, Tennis Ambassador for Turnberry Isle Miami, Partner in Canas Tennis Academy; Gustavo Oribe, Head Pro and Director of Tennis at Turnberry Isle Resort as well as Director of the Canas Tennis Academy; Ivan Baron, Tournament Chair for the Delray Beach Open and former top- ranking US professional; and Maurice Ruah, former number one tennis professional from Venezuela and past player on the Venezuelan Davis Cup Team.

The tennis panelists shared stories of career highlights, epic matches including wins and defeats. One story shared of the dual between Guillermo Canas and Maurice Ruah was a crowd favorite.

Aventura Mayor Enid Weisman, Aventura City Commissioner and Williams Island Board Member Robert Shelley, Former Aventura City Commissioner and Williams Island Board Member Billy Joel, North Miami Beach City Commissioner Phyllis Smith, Former State Senator Ron Silver, and Williams Island Board Member Jonathan Evans were in attendance.

AMC   Roundtable members were greeted with complimentary valet parking then transported over the marina walkway to the elegant Island Club. Members indulged in an amazing breakfast buffet with lobster tails, stone crabs, shrimp, caviar, oysters, made- to- order omelets, Belgian waffles, pancakes, salmon, eggs made to order served with breakfast pastries. An array of fresh- squeezed healthy juices were available at the juice bar, including celery, carrot, orange and grapefruit selections. The grand buffet was presented by Executive Chef Douglas Sisk, CEC, who joined Williams Island in late November. Previously he was the Executive Chef at The Reefs Resort in Bermuda. Chef Sisk will be overseeing the new Island Grille slated to open later this month to residents and club members at Williams Island.

Williams Island COO Steve Matlaga selected two winning names – Ran Oz and Fernando Levy Hara, winners of colossal bottles of wine courtesy of Williams Island.   Matlaga also provided information on Williams Island’s limited offering of non-resident memberships which includes Social, Spa and Tennis Privileges.
