Aventura Arts & Cultural Center celebrates 5th anniversary Season Preview and Taste of Aventura

Twenty years ago, the City of Aventura was officially incorporated and plans were underway to create a  “City of Excellence”, one that offered just about everything to its residents--- a thriving business community; award-winning K - 8 school, ACES;  full-program community recreation center;  free  shuttle bus system,  first-class police department and more.   In 2010, the City unveiled another jewel…..their Aventura Arts & Cultural Center (AACC).

Sitting on waterfront property, the beautiful AACC  offers state-of-the-art amenities and programming to residents and guests alike.  Recently the AACC partnered with the Aventura Marketing Council (AMC), the community’s not-for-profit business organization, to hold their 5th anniversary Season Preview and Taste of Aventura.  Hundreds of Aventura Marketing Council businesses and guests filled the 330-seat theatre to enjoy a very special evening of dining and entertainment. Before the show,  guests  tasted samplings of Tony Roma’s famous ribs; Mo’s Bagels  delectable sandwiches; Capt. Jim’s mouth-watering crab salad; incredible croissants from La Boulangerie;  delicious ahi tuna sashimi from Bonefish Grill and of course, the  fruit-turned-art by Edible Arrangements.

Once inside the theatre, guests were greeted by Aventura Marketing Council Chairman Cliff Schulman of Weiss Serota Helfman.   After an abbreviated AMC business meeting, Schulman introduced Steve Clark, General Manager of the AACC since 2010.   Clark spoke about the AACC  and its  success  with residents  who embrace the programming and groups that continually rent this beautiful venue.  As an affiliated venue  of  the Broward Center for the Performing Arts ,  the AACC has access to top-calibre performers, such as  legendary singer/actress Bernadette Peters, to be featured at their October 23rd  Founders’ Day VIP event.   The 2015-16 season will also showcase:  Guest Moments from Opera, Ballet and Zarzuela; An Evening at the Copacabana; Tango Obsession; New World School of the Arts  Repertoire; George Winston; Ben Vereen; Avalon: Suite for Flamenco Guitar and Orchestra; and of course, their  always sold-out Foreign Film Series and their ever-popular Family Fun Series kicking off with Dog Loves Books.

Then, nine amazing ballet dancers from Arts Ballet Theatre took the stage to perform   “Glinka Suite Fantastique” under the direction of Vladimir Issaev, followed by two singers from this year’s 6th annual Aventura Mall YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE (YSS)  presented by Mount Sinai Medical Center—nine year-old Lucia Fernandez de los Muros singing “New York, New York” and 14 year-old Cassie Ortiz  belting out  “Don’t Rain on My Parade”.

The evening ended as three great door prizes were drawn: from the AACC came two VIP tickets to see “Three Men and a Baby…Grand!”- Tribute to Sinatra on Dec. 18; the AMC donated two VIP tickets to the YSS on Nov. 15; and the Arts Ballet Theatre donated two VIP tickets to ”Ballets With Latin Flair”  on Oct. 10.
