Just before Veteran’s Day, ‘Patriotism in America’ was the theme of the Aventura Marketing Council’s November breakfast meeting featuring Rear Admiral Scott B. Jerabek, Director of Theater Engagement (J7), U.S. Southern Command; and the U.S. Southern Command Color Guard. Memorial Healthcare System hosted the salute to military heroes at the Kovens Conference Center on FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus.

Everyone was encouraged to join in Memorial Regional’s support of organizations including the Wounded Warrior Project; Mission United – helping returning veterans find employment; and Achilles International – giving people with disabilities opportunities to participate in mainstream distance running.

On Feb. 22, 2015, the Tour de Broward benefitting Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital will be held at Miramar Regional Park. Highlighting how Memorial Healthcare System is winning the battle to save lives, Zaren said,  “We’ve done our 14th pediatric heart transplant at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and recently completed our first adult heart transplant. Our whole focus is on keeping the community ‘where they live’ by providing comprehensive care close to home.” Miraculous recoveries are also facilitated at the Memorial Rehabilitation Institute, where a complete continuum of care includes inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, home health services and outpatient rehabilitation.

Following the Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem sung by Major __________ and invocation by Lt. _________, definitions of patriotism were discussed by Jerabek. “When you look ‘patriotism’ up, you’ll see terms such as national loyalty, civic virtue and defense of one’s country. But there are many [veterans and POWs] out there with stories of tremendous sacrifice that define personal versions of patriotism.”

Providing further insight into the meaning of patriotism, Jerabek highlighted excerpts from Articles one and six of the Code of Military Conduct: “I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense. I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom.”

“On Veteran’s Day, we honor the unwavering courage of the men and women who have served in our armed forces - including those in the ongoing effort to secure our nation and continue fighting terrorism. We must never forget their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.”

Turnberry Isle Miami hosts Sam Azar of ‘Living in Luxury’

Turnberry Isle Miami, Aventura’s most luxurious resort, was the ideal venue for an Aventura Marketing Council Chairman’s Roundtable meeting featuring property and hospitality expert Sam Azar, now hosting FOX TV’s new Saturday morning series Living in Luxury.

Past AMC Chair Bob Hollander of Brown & Brown Insurance welcomed business and community leaders along with Turnberry Isle Miami Managing Director Jon Gersone, Director of Sales and Marketing Skip James, Hotel Manager Phillippe Larrieu and Catering Director Stephen Jackson. They invited the community to discover the resort’s new and impressive amenities, noting membership isn’t necessary to enjoy all the luxuries.

Before Azar previewed upcoming Living in Luxury segments highlighting premier developers, architects, designers, realtors and exclusive properties, AMC members learned more about Turnberry Isle Miami – an Autograph Collection property that is part of a boldly original ensemble of hotels heralded as, “Nothing less than unique, nothing short of collectively exceptional.”

Ranking amongst Travel + Leisure’s “World’s Best Hotels” and already renowned for two championship golf courses redesigned by Raymond Floyd, a Tennis Center, over 400 spacious guest rooms and suites, plus a 40,000 square-foot Conference Center encompassing a grand ballroom and versatile meeting space - Turnberry Isle Miami is taking luxury to even greater heights.

Beyond sweeping renovations, an Optimal Wellness Center is now based at the Forbes Four Star Spa and & Fitness Center, where leading physicians are prescribing customized health plans and prevention-based treatments. Yet another celebrity chef restaurant complimenting Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak is also opening soon: Award-winning Chef Scott Conant of FoodTV Network’s hit series Chopped! is bringing Corsair to Aventura with a rustic menu inspired by the American farm and flavors of the Mediterranean.

Since the meeting was held just before Thanksgiving, Azar began by listing some of the things he’s most thankful for: “The real estate market comeback, being a resident of Aventura, and for representing the FOX Network on Living in Luxury.”

A foremost ambassador for the South Florida property industry, Azar has been recognized for his skills in real estate, business development, contract negotiation and luxury properties.  He explained, “Living in Luxury is about the beautiful properties and ‘glam’ people expect to see in Miami real estate. The real stars are my guests - they’re the realtors, developers, architects, designers and all those who make it happen.

“Upcoming segments will showcase before and after property transformations; ‘over the top’ design elements such as a 35,000 television bar and $5 million guest house built behind a $30 million mansion; special events; top producers; philanthropy; and hot trends (for example, marketing to the Chinese community).”

Summing up his personal definition of what the responsibility of living in luxury is all about, Azar emphasized, “Material stuff is fun and we all deserve to enjoy it if we’ve worked very hard to get it - but the ways we live healthy lifestyles and give back are what we can be proudest of. This is what I’m looking forward to sharing as producer and host of Living in Luxury, representing South Florida in a positive light.”
