Americans now spend nearly as much time using the Internet as they do watching TV.  The Aventura Marketing Council’s first Chairman’s Roundtable luncheon of 2013 focused on the emergence of startup technology companies as powerful economic forces and how local businesses can best harness innovation for their benefit.  The meeting was hosted by two “technologically advanced” startup companies: Genesis Media – a pioneering video advertising company focused on reinventing how consumers pay for content online; and DS Xpress - providing comprehensive computer services and helping entrepreneurs build business by establishing and optimizing an online presence.

AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman welcomed business and community leaders to Turnberry Isle Miami, along with Genesis Media CEO Mark Yackanich, Genesis co-founder, Chairman Andrew Reis and partners Yoav Cohen and Josh Feuer, DS Xpress President Dimitry Shaposhnikov and partner Todd Lynn, who also operate 24/7 Online Printing - Aventura’s “one stop shop for all your design and printing needs.”

Based in New York, Genesis Media is an early stage advertising technology darling.  Since October of 2011, they have quietly amassed an incredible roster of client partners across Fortune 500 brands such as Ford, Chevy, Chrysler and Walmart.   Their proprietary video advertising platform delivers high quality, guaranteed video advertising experiences.

Clicking on success, Yackanich explained how businesses can benefit from Genesis Media’s full-spectrum online video distribution reaching 150 million viewers per month across thousands of premium publishing partners.

“People are now spending at least half of their media consumption time on the Internet and online video advertising is one of the most effective tools for brand re-call – beating nearly every other media forum from an efficiency perspective, when it comes to reaching market segments.”

“Genesis enables advertisers to directly target desired consumers based on their interests and online habits and reach them on a grand scale. By matching consumers and brands, we can also deliver stronger ROI, create new revenue streams for publishers and substantially improve brand awareness.”

“True technology innovation and disruption, the kind that creates value for companies like yours and ours, only happens through partnership.  We at Genesis Media are looking forward to working with the members of the Aventura Marketing Council and the greater Miami business community to build a whole new generation of business opportunities for all of us.”

In keeping with the “start of something big” theme, AMC members learned Genesis Media’s affiliate is the largest online travel resource for travel news, vacation deals, and timely jetsetter advice.

Close to home, DS Xpress, based in Aventura for over 13 years, now has four locations with  departments including web development,  search engine optimization, graphic design, promotional strategies plus comprehensive 24/7 Online Printing services ranging from banners, posters and trade show exhibits – to  business cards, letterheads, envelopes, custom printing,  laminating and more, with fast turnaround times, discounted prices and the convenience of being able to order online.

Justice for all interested in “building business” prevailed at a recent Aventura Marketing Council breakfast meeting co-hosted by Association Law Group and Hotwire Communications/Hotwire Business Solutions. The event featured County Court judges from the North Dade Justice Center including Associate Administrative Judge Linda Singer Stein, Judge Myriam Lehr, Judge Carlos Guzman, Judge Charles Johnson and Judge Caryn Schwartz. Circuit Court Judge Lisa Walsh of the Dade County Courthouse and County Court Judge Rudy Ruiz of the Miami Beach Courthouse also presided along with Circuit Court Judge Stan Blake, who served as  the emcee—sure to be voted the best comedian Emcee in town!  His years of friendship with the panel of judges and knowledge about the judicial system gave him great material for his very funny, rapid-fire comments that left the audience holding their sides in laughter.

Legal leader/AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman greeted guests gathered at Florida International University’s Kovens Conference Center and welcomed Association Law Group senior partners Ben Solomon, Michael Furshman and Business Development Director Howard Weinberg who is also an Aventura Commissioner, as well as Carl Lender, Vice President of Sales for Hotwire Communications/Hotwire Business Solutions and Marketing Specialist Evie Hernandez.

Presenting evidence of partnerships benefitting the community, special appreciation was expressed to the AMC for supporting the North Dade Justice Center’s annual Law Day event. Judge Lehr and Judge Singer noted, “At the North Dade Justice Center, we have the best camaraderie and pride ourselves on being an open courthouse for you.”

When the gavel passed to Judge Schwartz, she warned the community to beware of nefarious companies acquiring condos from owners behind on payments or facing foreclosure. “They try to collect from new tenants without any intention of paying outstanding debts.  But now, a new law permits condo associations to send a statutory notice informing them that payments must be made directly to the association if owners are in arrears.”

Judge Johnson, Judge Guzman, Judge Walsh and Judge Ruiz ruled it’s challenging to deal with cases involving criminal law, domestic violence and condo disputes. They concurred, “Everyone will receive our full attention and best efforts. We try to ensure the court process is easier for all concerned.”

Testifying to the success of Hotwire Communications/Hotwire Business Solutions, Lender explained, “We’re now the largest privately-owned cable company in Florida providing to the home services to over 100,000 customers in 17 states ranging from IPTV and high-speed Internet - to phone service and home security.  Our local office alone serves 220 residential properties with our own fiber-delivered services including Uptown Marina Lofts, Turnberry Village, Artech and all of the Trump Towers.  Marketing “expert witness” Evie Hernandez added, “Our Hotwire Business Solutions division is dedicated to creating partnerships that can especially help small and mid-size businesses grow.”

Comm. Weinberg introduced senior partners Solomon and Furshman, renowned for innovative legal solutions earning Daily Business Review’s “Most Effective Lawyers” ranking.  “We’re a full-service law firm representing hundreds of HOAs and condos throughout Florida, primarily as their general counsel. Our services include contract preparation, interpretation of statutes, litigation and a focus on collection of past due assessments.  ALG can also help address illegal tenant situations and other non-compliance issues relating to an association’s governing documents. Just some of the firm’s “famous name” Aventura clients include Eldorado, Parc Central and Aventura Marina.
